5 Tips To Pick Your Wedding Shoes

Los Angeles, California

1.) MATCH YOUR DRESS AND THEME - This is the most important tip because you definitely want to match your theme and dress style. Cowboy boots likely won’t go well with a black-tie affair, just as wearing sky-high heels won’t go well for an outdoor wedding. Some other factors to consider include texture, material, contrast, and color.

2.) PURPOSE  - Think about what you are trying to achieve with your wedding shoes. Will you be wearing a simple dress and want to make a statement with your wedding shoes? Are you trying to match your significant other? Or will your dress be doing the talking and you just want shoes for walking? You will be able to focus more on the style once you figure out the purpose of the shoes you will be wearing on your big day.

3.) MEASUREMENTS AND HEIGHT  - Take into consideration the length of your dress. If you will have to make alterations to your dress, ensure that you purchase your shoes beforehand so your dress can be altered accordingly. You don’t want to have to worry about tripping over a long hemline and you don’t want your ankles showing where they shouldn’t be.

4.) MOTHER NATURE  - As much as we hope for sunny skies on our big day, Mother Nature can sometimes throw a wrench into our plans. Have a plan B on hand in case of inclement weather. A perfect soggy day solution is rain boots. Also, winter boots can make for fun snow pictures.

5.) COMFORT  - Last but certainly not least, comfort! It’s no fun being uncomfortable especially on your big day. Consider whether the shoe will be comfortable enough to wear throughout the day and most of the night as well. If you are going to wear high heels, practice wearing them a few times to break them in before your big day. Try tactics like "liquid band-aid" in sensitive areas or taping your third and fourth toes together. It sounds silly but it works. You can even try moleskin on those sensitive areas and especially if you are getting blisters. Lastly, have flats or even cute sneakers on hold just in case your arches need to take it easy after a few hours.

No matter what type of wedding shoes you choose, make sure they reflect your personality. Also, make sure you show them off in proper style and have an amazing time getting married in them on your big day.

We really hope that this helps you decide on what shoes are best for you!
